The no motor zones are special places within Everglades National Park where as the name implies no motors are allowed - only hand powered boating is available. This reduces boat traffic and fishing pressure, the results of which can be spectacular fishing and abundant bird life worthy of a magazine photo spread.
Due to the nature of this trip fishing parties are limited to one person and you must be fit to sit in and paddle a canoe. If baby Tarpon are what you are after you will find no place better. These acrobatic juveniles make even their larger co-species look lazy. Anglers can also expect to catch Snook, Redfish and Trout.
This trip offers unique photographic opportunities. Be one of the few people ever to see the birds and wildlife of this trip.
Baby Tarpon, Snook, Redfish and Trout.
From anywhere in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, take Florida’s Turnpike South until it ends in Florida City.
Go right at the first light Palm Drive.
Go straight two miles to the four way stop.
Turn left four way stop at Robert Is Here fruit and vegetable stand (this is a great place for a post charter milk shake or tropical smoothie.
Go to the next stop sign and turn right, there is a brown national park sign too, follow the road to the park entrance.
Flamingo is at the end of the park road.
Whitewater bay ramp is first and the Florida Bay ramp is by the concession building.
WARNING: You will lose cell service in the park. Most people get service in Flamingo itself.
The park entrance fee is good for seven days. Come back another day and see the land part. It’s what everyone thinks of when you say Everglades National Park. I for one never get tired of seeing it even after hundreds of trips.
